New painting, Arabian filly

Arabian filly Aja Europa at Menton, 2013
Oil on 24" x 18" board

Aja Europa -- bred by Aja Arabians, owned by the Royal Cavalry of Oman.

I recently completed this painting of an Arabian filly I saw at the
Menton Arabian horse show in June. I knew I'd never be able to pick
just one pose of Aja Europa so I settled on 5 (though the original
sketch for this painting had 7 poses!).

I could easily work a second compilation of poses of this filly but
my attention now turns to paintings inspired by other horses seen
at the Menton Arabian show.

Work in Progress: Impressions from Scottsdale Arabian show

Here's the result of this morning's painting session. This is a rough underpainting/first layer to one of my paintings based on my impressions and sketches from watching the Scottsdale Arabian show via a livefeed.

All a bit rough at the moment especially the legs as I'm still deciding their finer points so please disregard strange legs!

Some rough sketches, Scottsdale Arabian show

Currently I am enjoying watching the Scottsdale Arabian Show, Arizona from thousands of miles away in England via the iequine livefeed. I've been feeling very inspired watching lots of different classes (such variety!) and been working on the challenge of sketching "live" from the livefeed.

Here are two rough sketches from one costume class. I'm feeling very inspired and now working on some mini (7" x 5") and composite paintings from what has inspired me -- my impressions -- at the Scottsdale show.
